This is the first knitting pattern I ever designed. The Happy Heart socks knitting pattern was created as I wanted to knit my mum some socks for Christmas. I knew she liked the colourful styles I’d previously made for her. Over the years I had collected many odds and ends of sock yarn in my stash, and these were the perfect opportunity to showcase different colour combinations.
The pattern is written so that you can choose any colours and combinations, ensuring you have a minimum of 5 different colours. The two socks could be completed in the same colours, or do as I did and use different colours on each!
The socks are worked top down, with a flap-and-gusset heel & grafted wedge toe. I have written the pattern for the magic loop, but can be completed on double pointed needles.
These socks are designed for a foot circumference of 23cm. If you require a slightly larger or smaller circumference, you can adjust your needle sizes accordingly. Colourwork can come up tighter than your standard stocking stitch so make sure to leave enough ease so they are stretchy enough to wear.
